Navarino Island Tour
Navarino Island Tour
Once we've picked you up from your hotel in Puerto Williams at 3:30 pm, we'll set off on our tour of Navarino Island.
Our tour will take us across a total distance of 15.5 miles (25 kilometres) and will include several stops so you can admire the scenery. This Patagonian island, which belongs to the Chilean part of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, is located on the southern shore of the Beagle Channel. You'll also have fantastic views of this narrow sea passage, which connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and serves as a natural border with Argentina.
The proximity of these two countries was one of the causes of the Beagle conflict. We'll see the traces left behind by this dispute between Chile and Argentina as well as some of the archaeological vestiges of the Yaghan People. This Indigenous community is one of the southernmost indigenous peoples in the world.
As well as learning about the history and nature of Navarino Island, we'll discover which coastal birds inhabit this part of the Cape Horn Biosphere Reserve (RBCH).
We'll make our final stop at a viewpoint, where we'll enjoy a selection of local products with a tasty beer. After trying these products, we'll take you back to your hotel in Puerto Williams and drop you off at 7:30 pm.
