Navarino Island 5 Day Hike
Navarino Island 5 Day Hike
Day 1
At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Williams and set off for the Dientes de Navarino Island (Teeth of Navarino Island) trails to begin our hike. Let's go!
The first part of the route, which is around 2 miles (3.5 kilometres), will take us to the top of Bandera Hill. From the top of this 2,132-foot (650-metre) hill, we'll admire breathtaking panoramic views of Navarino Island. After taking in the scenery, we'll start making our way down the slopes of the hill.
We'll finish our first day of hiking by setting up camp next to the Salto Lagoon.
Day 2
The second day of our activity will be spent crossing different mountain passes. We'll start this leg at the First Pass, and from there we'll continue through Róbalo Valley to Australia Pass. This rocky pass boasts breathtaking views that'll delight even the most experienced hikers among us.
Our route will then continue to Dientes Pass, which will allow us to cross a mountain range and see the southern part of Navarino Island. We'll then come to Dientes Lagoon and carry on walking to Gabriel Hill. Keep your cameras at the ready, as the views from the top of this mountain are incredible!
After another exciting day, we'll camp in the surroundings of this hill.
Day 3
Rise and shine! We'll have breakfast at the campsite and then set off towards Dientes Lagoon. After skirting this body of water in Chilean Patagonia, we'll head to the beautiful Escondida Lagoon and its enchanting scenery.
We'll then walk to the next stop on our hiking tour of inland Navarino Island, which will be Ventarrón Pass. This pass owes its Spanish name to the strong gusts of wind that blow here. Our next stop will be Guerrico Pass, which offers magnificent views over the valley of the same name.
Guerrico Pass is also a great spot for nature lovers, as you can spot the diverse animal and plant species that are endemic to the Chilean part of Tierra del Fuego. You can also admire some incredible panoramic views next to the Strait of Magellan.
Our third day will come to an end on the shores of Martillo Lagoon, where we'll put up our tents and get some rest.
Day 4
We'll start the day by crossing a landscape of peat bogs as we gradually ascend through Virginia Pass. At 2,782 feet (848 metres) above sea level, this is the highest point we'll reach during our 5-day hiking activity.
From Virginia Pass, we'll start our descent to Guanaco Lagoon. We'll then spend the night at a campsite on the shores of this final Fuegian lake.
Day 5
After waking up bright and early and having breakfast, we'll set off on a hike to the final point on our route. From there, we'll hit the road to Puerto Williams and eat a traditional lunch at a local restaurant. Our lunch will include several of the local cuisine's delicious dishes.
Having spent the afternoon at your leisure in Puerto Williams, we'll reconvene in the city centre and travel to a Fuegian forest in its outskirts for dinner around a campfire.
This unforgettable day will conclude when we drop you back at your hotel in Puerto Williams at midnight.
