Puerto Tranquilo Marble Caves Boat Trip

The tour met our expectations, however, when we arrived at the agency, they told us that they had not met the minimum quota, so the excursion would not take place. They gave us the option of doing the longer tour with another agency, paying an additional $5 per person, or waiting to see if more people arrived. Due to a scheduling issue, none of the options satisfied us and we let them know. Finally, they placed us with another agency and we were able to do the excursion.

Puerto Tranquilo Marble Caves Boat Trip

At a time of your choice, we'll set sail from the dock of Puerto Tranquilo to navigate the western part of the General Carrera Lake, one of the most beautiful places in the Chilean region of Aysén.

We'll start this boat trip along the shore of Puerto Tranquilo by the marble caves. From the boat, we'll see how the spectacular greyish and bluish tones merge perfectly in these lake caves. All of them are part of a large protected area which, due to its exceptional environmental value, was declared a National Monument of Chile in 1994 in the category of Nature Sanctuary.

We'll sail along 500 metres (1640 feet) of caves, where we'll take the boat inside to observe the marble ceilings. We'll then continue the crossing to the marble tunnel, where we'll make another stop to appreciate this whitish calcium carbonate cavity.

We'll continue our boat trip on Lake General Carrera towards the islets of the cathedral and the marble chapel of Puerto Tranquilo. These geological formations are two of the main natural monuments of Aysén, and no matter how many photographs you take, there's nothing like seeing them up close.

Finally, after an hour and a half sailing, we'll conclude the boat trip at the departure pier.
