On this boat trip we'll set sail from Puerto Tranquilo and sail to the coast of Puerto Sanchez to admire its famous marble caves, located in one of the most spectacular areas of Lake General Carrera.
Puerto Sanchez Marble Caves Boat Trip
We'll start this boat trip on Lake General Carrera at the dock of Puerto Tranquilo, from where we'll set sail at the time of your choice to head for the shores of Puerto Sanchez.
First of all, we'll sail along the coast of Panichini Island. The bay of this uninhabited islet serves as a shelter for several historic ships that we'll see during the crossing. Do you know what the function of these ships was? After learning about their history, we'll continue our route to the marble caves of Puerto Sanchez.
From the boat, we'll have a close-up view of these lake caves formed by calcium carbonate. These caves have been shaped by the erosive action of water and wind, giving rise to spectacular geological formations that stand out for their greyish and bluish tones.
The journey through this area of the Aysén region, in the heart of Chilean Patagonia, will also allow us to contemplate a large colony of Andean condors in their natural habitat.
After sailing for an hour and 45 minutes along the coast of Puerto Sanchez, we'll return to the starting point in Puerto Tranquilo.
