Puerto Plata Food Tour
At 9 am, we'll meet at General Gregorio Luperón Avenue and begin a food tour of Puerto Plata. Let's taste some of its most traditional flavors while learning about the culture and history of the city.
Our first destination on the tour will be Puerto Plata's most popular market. There, we'll discover which exotic fruits and vegetables grow in the Dominican Republic, the spiced used more frequently on the island, and how tobacco is grown. Next, we'll visit a community gallery where we'll find jewelry made with the national gemstone: Larimar.
We'll resume the tour learning more about the country's religion and the famous Dominican voodoo. Next, we'll enter the historic district, full of traditional barbershops and food stalls. In one of them, we'll taste the famous chulitos made of yucca and stuffed with meat or cheese. And not only that, but we'll also try handmade ice cream in the main square.
What's more, we'll visit the Casa Museo Gregorio Luperón, where we'll learn about the history of Puerto Plata. Finally, we'll enjoy a delicious traditional Dominican lunch at the home of a local family, where we'll savor the specialties of the Caribbean country!
Lastly, we'll conclude the tour at 1 pm at the starting point.
