Puerto Plata Cacao Tour
Puerto Plata Cacao Tour
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel and set off on our cacao tour of Puerto Plata. Let's learn about chocolate in the Dominican Republic!
To begin, we'll head to the Hacienda Cufa in the heart of the country's forest. Here, we'll find out how cacao is grown and produced by those who work here. We'll see the pods in which the beans are found, discover how the cacao tree is cared for and learn how the cacao is collected.
As well as taking part in this process, we'll receive a chocolate facial treatment. You'll get to feel the natural benefits that cacao has on your skin! Afterwards, we'll head to the workshop to prepare a tasty treat that you'll get to try later on.
Feeling peckish yet? Before leaving the hacienda, we'll eat a traditional Dominican lunch. After our meal, we'll head to Puerto Plata and visit the Amber Museum in the city centre. During our visit, we'll see some incredible Dominican amber stones, including some that contain fossils.
We'll then stroll along the Doña Blanca promenade, which is also known as the Pink Street (Calle Rosa). You'll soon see why! As we continue exploring Puerto Plata, we'll walk along the charming umbrella street.
After admiring the Cathedral, we'll head back to your hotel and say our goodbyes at 3 pm.
