Explore the most unique and picturesque villages along the shores of Chile's second-largest lake on our Lake Llanquihue Villages Tour from Puerto Montt. Chilean Germany awaits!
Lake Llanquihue Villages Tour
At 8:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in central Puerto Montt and, from there, set off for Lake Llanquihue to explore the villages located on its shores.
The first stop on our tour will be the municipality of Llanquihue. This spot is famous for its cured meats and for being the source of the Maullín River. The name of the municipality comes from the Mapuche language, and means 'the place where one dives into water'.
Afterwards, we'll continue to Frutillar, a village with Bavarian origins that'll we'll be able to spot as soon as we arrive. We'll wander around its streets full of traditional wooden houses and charming gardens, as well as observing its unique German breweries. You'll also be able to admire the Avant-garde Teatro del Lago theatre, which is sure to impress. If you like, you can visit the German Colonial Museum and learn all about this area's first Teutonic settlers.
We'll also visit the village of Puerto Octay, located on the northern banks, which has iconic traditional Germana architecture. As we explore its squares, we'll delve into its economic history, as it was the first port to export agricultural products to Osorno.
It'll then be time to start our return journey to Puerto Montt, where we should arrive at around 2 pm.
