Loero Amazonian Community Multi-Day Visit
Loero Amazonian Community Multi-Day Visit
2-day visit
Day 1
We'll pick you up upon your arrival at the airport in Puerto Maldonado or at the hotel where you're staying. Ready for an incredible experience in the middle of the Amazon jungle? As soon as we meet, we'll be transferred to the community of Loero, where we'll be welcomed by the local family with whom we'll live for the next couple of days.
During this time, we'll accompany our hosts in daily tasks, including cultivating, fertilizing, and harvesting. The first day will be dedicated to planting the fields with a local crop, like papaya, corn, banana, or cassava. This is laborious but very satisfying work, which will be rewarded with delicious traditional food.
Day 2
After a good night's sleep and some breakfast, we'll spend the morning picking fruit from the fields. Depending on the departure time of your bus or flight, you can do some additional activities, such as fishing in the Amazon River.
Finally, we'll take you to the airport, bus station, or hotel in Puerto Maldonado.
4-day visit
Days 1-2
On these days, the itinerary and activities will be the same as on the 2-day tour. After lunch on the second day, to clear your heads after the harvest, you can accompany your hosts to go fishing in the Amazon River and, if you wish, go for a refreshing swim in its waters.
Day 3
The third day will be more relaxed, as we'll use it to visit other farming or cattle ranching families and to check out the Tambopata Corridor, an area of sustainable tourism where we'll see a rescue center for Amazonian fauna and explore its most impressive viewpoints.
We'll also learn about how Indigenous Peoples use medicinal plants. If you want, you can even participate in an ayahuasca ceremony to purify the mind and body.
Day 4
After four days of experiencing an authentic Amazonian lifestyle and learning to live in community, our stay will come to a close. We'll say goodbye to the local family and other members of the community, and then we'll take you to the airport in time for the departure of your flight, or to the hotel you have booked in Puerto Maldonado.
Accommodation
The tour includes 1 or 3 nights of full-board accommodation in the home of a local family in the Loero community. Prices are per person in a double room.
Important
Arrival time: Activities on the first day start early, so you should be in Puerto Maldonado at 7 am (there is a bus from Cusco that leaves you at the station at that time) or spend the night in Puerto Maldonado at a hotel booked on your own. The journey to the Loero community is about 2 hours.
Departure time: The return transfer from the community is scheduled for 4 hours before the flight you have booked, or 3 hours before if you leave by bus. If you choose the 2-day tour and your flight leaves early, you'll not have time to do the activities on the second day, so we recommend taking the flight that leaves at 4 pm.
If you're traveling by bus, these leave in the afternoon, so you would have time to enjoy the activities, as the transfer would be after lunch.
On the 4-day tour, this would not be an issue, as there are no scheduled activities on the fourth day.
