Tambopata National Reserve & Rainforest 4 Day Tour
Puerto Maldonado: 4 Days
Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Río Madre de Díos
On the first day of the tour, we'll pick you up from Puerto Maldonado Airport, bus station or your hotel and make our way to the river port in Puerto Maldonado, where we'll board a traditional boat and set sail down the Madre de Dios River to our lodge, located 30 kilometres from the city.
After settling in to our cabañas, the traditional bungalows where we'll spend the next three nights, we'll renew our energy with a hearty lunch before heading into the rainforest for the afternoon. Here we'll collect some seeds and learn about the different medicinal uses of the jungle plants. Then it's time for a cruise along the river, enjoying an unforgettable sunset before heading back to the lodge for dinner and to rest. There's plenty ahead of us!
Day 2: Tambopata
Having eaten breakfast at the lodge, we'll head to the Tambopata Reserve, ready for a day of trekking in the Amazon. Along the trail, we'll learn to distinguish the plants and wildlife that live in the tropical jungle. Discover different species of cedar, aguaje, butterflies and toucans, among others! Our route will bring us to Lago Sandova, and we'll admire this lagoon, characterised by its wealth of biodiversity, before returning to the lodge for lunch and a rest.
After visiting the lake we'll have lunch, and in the afternoon we'll take a walk until nightfall to observe the nocturnal forest wildlife, before finishing the day at the hostel with dinner and a good night's sleep until the next day.
Day 3: Monkey Island
We'll have breakfast at our lodge to enjoy a morning of adventure through the Amazon jungle. On the third day, you can climb trees, walk along hanging bridges and feel as though you're flying on a zip line more than 200 metres long!
After hall this jungle fun, we return to the lodge for lunch and rest for a few hours. Then In the afternoon, it's on to the famous Monkey Island. In this small islet in the middle of the river, you'll have the opportunity to observe various primates, including marmosets, maquisapas and huapos. The day finishes back at the hostel, with dinner and accommodation until the next day.
Day 4: Cachuela - lago Anaconda - Puerto Maldonado
After getting up early we'll have one last breakfast at our accommodation, and go to meet the parrots of La Cachuela, an area of the river where the peculiar blue-headed macaws live.
