Amazon Rainforest: 4 or 5-Day Tour
4-day tour
Day 1: Puerto Maldonado - Tambopata
On the first day of the tour, we'll pick you up from the airport or bus station in Puerto Maldonado and take you to the starting point for our tour. Here, we'll give you an introduction to our itinerary for the next four days, before we climb into our all-terrain vehicle for a two-hour drive into the Amazon Rainforest.
We'll reach the banks of the Tambopata River, where we'll board a boat to the lodge where we'll stay for the next few days. In the afternoon, after settling into our cabins and then enjoy a delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, we'll take a walk around the surrounding jungle in search of different animals in their natural habitat. Then, you'll have the rest of the day free. See you again tomorrow!
Day 2: Macaw Clay Lick
We'll get up bright and early to head to El Chuncho, the largest macaw clay lick in the world, and we'll set off on a 1.5-hour boat trip to see the incredible wildlife that inhabits the area. Keep your eyes peeled for capybaras, jaguars, and tapirs!
Climbing out of the boat, we'll delve into the jungle to witness the unique sight of 11 different species of macaw on the clay walls that have been formed by erosion. You'll be captivated by their vibrant colors!
Then, we'll continue our route to the botanic garden, where you'll learn about species of fruit trees, wood trees and medicinal plants in the area. After this visit, we'll return to the accommodation for lunch.
In the afternoon, we'll have the chance to go kayaking in the River Tambopata. Keep quiet throughout this activity so we can spot some of the largest animals in the Tambopata Reserve!
Day 3: Monkey Island
We'll start the day with a walk around the jungle to see impressive trails full of trees over 500 years old.
Over the course of 2 hours, we'll witness the marvels of nature in the Amazon Rainforest. At the end of the walk, we'll return to the accommodation to relax and have a yummy lunch.
In the afternoon, we'll cross the Madre de Dios River to head to Monkey Island. Here, we'll see different families such as the Gracile capuchin monkey and the Guianan squirrel monkey that live on this island.
Por la noche, iremos en busca de caimanes, con los que podremos sacarnos alguna foto. ¡El broche de oro perfecto! Después, regresaremos al alojamiento para cenar y descansar.
At night, we'll go in search of caimans to get a photo. You'll love it! Then, we'll go back to base for dinner and to rest.
Day 4: Canopy Walk
On the fourth day, we'll wake up early for a walk around the hanging bridges on the Canopy Walk. We'll spend the morning in the treetops with incredible views over this area of Peru. Can you picture being 30 metres (100 feet) up in the trees?
After this activity, we'll take you back to Puerto Maldonado, where we'll say our goodbyes at 9:30 am and end the tour.
5-day tour
On this 5-day tour, the first 3 days will be the same as the 4-day tour. On the fourth day, instead of going back to Puerto Maldonado, we'll go on a hiking route around Lake Sandoval. Then, we'll explore its waters in a traditional rowing canoe to try and spot piranas. When the sun sets, we'll go on a night walk in this spectacular area.
The next day (day 5), we'll go to the Canopy Walk, like the last day of the 4-day tour, before going to Puerto Maldonado.
