Valdes Peninsula Shore Excursion

We will meet you at the port of Puerto Madryn upon your arrival by cruise ship, before heading to the Valdes Peninsula (entry not included), a spectacular nature reserve located just outside the city.

Our journey there will take us across the isthmus of Carlos Ameghino, which connects the peninsula to the Chabut province on the mainland. This spectacular wilderness area covers a huge area of 1,400 square miles and is home to a high number of animal species. We will arrive at the Interpretation Center at the entrance to the reserve. Inside the building, you will discover the observation point which offers stunning views across the peninsula to both gulfs and the Isla de Los Pájaros (Bird Island), home to gulls, herons, and even penguins.

Our next stop is the bay of Caleta Valdés where you will see wonderful Elephant Seals and Sealions in their natural habitat. To get even closer to these amazing creatures, we then head to Punta Cantor. We then make a pause in our itinerary so you can have something to eat if you want (not included).

Feeling re-energized, we continue with our tour of the peninsula. If we are lucky, we will spot magnificent orcas, considered the largest members of the oceanic dolphin family, hunting in groups.

The last stop on our route is tiny Puerto Pirámides, the only settlement on the peninsula. The beautiful surrounding area was designated a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve due to its highly biodiverse ecosystem. Among the crystal blue waters and the fine white sand, you will discover a spot which is home to a large colony of amazing sea lions.

In the afternoon, we will return to the port of Puerto Madryn so you can climb back on board your cruise ship.
