Estancia San Lorenzo Trip and Whale Watching
Estancia San Lorenzo Trip and Whale Watching
At 7:15 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in downtown Puerto Madryn and head to Peninsula Valdes. There, we will take a tour by truck to the San Lorenzo estancia, famous for its colony of Magellanic penguins.
We will learn about the behavior of these animals and what they feed on, and their characteristics, as we trek route through the penguin colony of Estancia San Lorenzo accompanied by our guide. Once the route through the penguin colony is finished, you will have one hour free to have lunch at the estancia.
After lunch, we will continue the tour by truck through the Valdés Peninsula in the Punta Norte area. This place is usually good for sighting magnificent Atlantic orcas, although we cannot guarantee how many you will see on your particular trip. The route then continues to Puerto Piramides, located in the south of the peninsula, where you will have two hours free for a snack or a walk.
You can also take advantage of the free time to enjoy a fun boat ride at sunset with watching southern whales. The sunset is the best time to watch these cetaceans closely since when the sun goes down they usually come to the coast of the Valdés peninsula in search of crustaceans to feed on.
After the free time, we will meet up in the center of Puerto Pirámides to return from there to Puerto Madryn where arrival at your hotel is scheduled for 7:15 pm.
Spotting animals
Peninsula Valdes is one of the best places in Argentina to see Magellanic penguins, Atlantic killer whales, and southern whales. However, animals are unpredictable, and the number you will see depends on various factors such as the weather and the reproduction and breeding times of the different species.
