Traditional Amazonian Cooking Workshop
Traditional Amazonian cooking workshop
This gastronomic experience will allow you to participate in a thrilling workshop where you'll learn the secrets of Amazonian gastronomy, an area that differs immensely from other parts of Peru in terms of its food culture. This type of cuisine is based on fish and fruits and vegetables, such as yucca, plantain, or chonta, ingredients that can be easily found in the Peruvian jungle.
We'll meet at 8 am at the Hospedaje Los Incas and head off to begin our journey. First, we'll visit a local farm or plantation, where we'll select the best fruits and vegetables for the dishes we'll prepare.
We'll then make our way to the local market, to choose the fresh ingredients that we'll use for cooking. When we return from the market, we'll put our chef skills to the test. The meal will consist of two starters, two main courses, and a dessert while we learn about the history of Amazonian gastronomy and the properties of each ingredient.
The starters will be Amazonian ceviche and chonta or palm heart salad, a typical dish that is usually eaten at Easter. We'll have the option to choose which of the two first courses we desire such as fish casserole, patarashca, tacacho and inchicapi. Finally, we'll prepare a dessert, which will be revealed to you on the day of the activity. Surprise!
After about 2 and a half hours of working away in the kitchen, we'll sit at the table to taste the fantastic dishes we have prepared, accompanied by a delicious fruit drink.
We'll conclude the workshop after lunch, at 3 pm.
