Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter Day Trip
Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter Day Trip
At 10 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Iguazú and take you to the Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter in the outskirts of the city.
The Güirá Oga centre, which in the Guaraní language means "the house of birds", is surrounded by lush jungle and was founded in 1997 by Jorge Anfuso and Silvia Elsegood. These two remarkable naturalists specialised in the rehabilitation of birds of prey and other animals.
You'll visit the shelter's facilities and discover how the animals from Iguazú and other parts of the Argentinean province of Misiones are cared for. Visitors are advised to bear in mind that Güirá Oga isn't a zoo, but a centre dedicated to the conservation of different species that, for a variety of reasons, can't return to the wild.
During our tour of Güirá Oga, we'll see how the monkeys, toucans, leopards and other animals recuperate from their ailments. In addition, we'll see the rooms used for veterinary care, feeding, rehabilitation of species and captive breeding.
After spending an incredible day at the Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter, we'll take you back to your hotel in Puerto Iguazú and drop you off at 11:30 am.
