San José Manialtepec Horse Riding
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Escondido and set off for the community of San José Manialtepec by minibus. The journey should only take 30 minutes.
The saddled horses will be waiting for us when we arrive, after which we can start our fantastic adventure through some of the most extraordinary spots in San José Manialtepec.
On the backs of our new friends, we'll head deep into the jungle and go through up to four different crossings along the Maíz River. This is the perfect way to explore its beautiful rural landscapes and discover unique plants such as the ceiba, which is considered to be a sacred tree by different pre-Hispanic cultures.
After crossing the jungle, we'll arrive at one of the coastal Manialtepec lagoon's banks, where we'll get into canoes and paddle to the other side. Don't forget to look back! You won't want to miss the delightful sight of the horses swimming behind us to cross the lagoon as well.
Once we've canoes across the water, we'll arrive at Puerto Suelo Beach. The friendly locals will be waiting for us, and will kindly offer the warmth of a bonfire with some delicious chocolates - the perfect way to get your strength back after our activities!
We'll then get back on the horses and return to our route's starting point, from which we'll take you back to your hotel in Puerto Escondido. We'll arrive around 7 hours after initial pickup.
