At the indicated time, we'll start this free tour of Puerto del Rosario in front of the traffic circle of the Fuente de la Explanada. Ready to visit the capital of Fuerteventura?
After a brief introduction, we'll head to the historic center. There, we'll pass in front of the Town Hall of Puerto del Rosario and the building of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura. We'll also stop in front of the Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, an emblem of the city.
Next to this church is the House-Museum of Miguel de Unamuno, where we'll see the sculpture that presides over the entrance. Do you know why this writer was exiled to Fuerteventura? After learning about the house's history, we'll go to Primero de Mayo Street, one of the main commercial arteries of the island capital.
From this street, we'll continue the tour next to the Playa Chica beach, where we'll see the Morales family's kilns. They produced lime (calcium oxide) which was later exported and became one of the main industries of the city.
Finally, we'll take a walk next to the open-air sculpture park and then conclude our free tour of Puerto del Rosario in the Plaza de las Escuevas after 2 hours of exploring the city.
