Discover the incredible volcanic activity in Pucón on our hike around the parasitic craters. You'll have an experience like no other as you explore these unique formations in this spectacular part of Chile.
Pucón Parasitic Craters Hike
At 4:30 pm, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Pucón and drive to a part of the Andes with temperate forests at the foot of the Villarrica Volcano. This volcano is the most active in Chile! When we get to this part of the country, we'll see the incredible parasitic craters.
These cavities have been carved into the rocks by volcanic lava, and they form part of a breathtaking landscape that leaves visitors enthralled. We'll explore this area during our 5-mile (8-kilometre) hike, which will take us between 3 and 4 hours.
We'll walk along trails with different terrains, from forests to volcanic areas. As we walk, you'll see the craters and excellent panoramic views of the Villarrica, Llaima, Sollipulli and Quetrupillán volcanoes.
While climbing up to the craters, we'll see the glacial lakes found in this part of Chile. Among these lakes are the Villarrica, Caburgua and Calafquén, which are surrounded by lush Andean forests.
It'll then be time to walk back to the starting point of our hike, from which we'll return to your hotel in Pucón and drop you off at 9:30 pm.
