Yarinacocha & Pacacocha Lakes Excursion
Yarinacocha & Pacacocha Lakes Excursion
Yarinacocha and Pacacocha are the names of two of the most important lagoons in the Amazon region of Ucayali. On their shores live not only exotic animals such as jaguars, sloths and anacondas, but also communities of Indigenous Peoples who still preserve their ancient traditions.
We'll begin our adventure at 9 am when we'll pick you up at your hotel and drive to Yarinacocha, just 2 kilometers from Pucallpa. Here we'll stop to check out its oldest resident: La Lupuna, a gigantic tree that's more than 200 years old and almost 70 meters high! During the tour, we'll tell you all about why it is so important for the town and its ecosystem.
Continuing on, we'll visit a sugar cane mill, where we'll learn about the production process of its exquisite liquors - we'll even get to taste them! Next, we'll walk along the shores of Lake Yarinacocha to admire the different species of trees and plants.
Afterward, we'll take a walk through the jungle to observe its extensive vegetation, followed by a boat ride to the Pacacocha lagoon. Sailing through its waters we'll pay special attention to the great diversity of animals that live on its shores and then make a stop at a wildlife lodge.
Following the course of the river, we'll arrive at Puerto Callao in Yarinacocha. Here we'll visit the Maratíshobo handicraft center to admire the traditional handicrafts of the local Indigenous community. Finally, we'll return to Pucallpa, arriving around 1 pm.
