Mayantuyacu River Tour
Mayantuyacu River Tour
Between 6 am and 7 am we'll pick you up at your hotel in Pucallpa and drive to Honoria. After a two and a half hour minibus ride, we'll board a boat to take us to a trail that leads to the boiling river of Mayantuyacu.
Once there, we'll get off the boat and embark on an hour-long hiking route. The hike will allow us to enjoy the beauty of the lush Peruvian jungle until we reach the boiling river of Mayantuyacu. Along the way, we'll come across several sanctuaries that promote ancestral Amazonian medicine.
When we arrive at our destination, we'll begin to observe the numerous vapours rising from the river waters. We'll talk about the different theories that explain the origin of these warm waters that remain a mystery to science.
As we admire the bubbling waters, we'll learn about the mythological stories of indigenous communities such as the Ashaninka people. For them, this river is known as Shanay Timpishka and was created by an enormous serpent called Yacumama.
You'll have three hours of free time to have lunch and enjoy this incredible place. We recommend that you bring something to eat on the day of the excursion.
We'll finish the excursion at 6 pm leaving you at your hotel.
