Lake Yarinacocha Excursion
Lake Yarinacocha Excursion
We'll pick you up at 9 am at your hotel in Pucallpa and take you to Puerto Callao, the capital of the Peruvian district of Yarinacocha.
From there we'll hop on a boat to start touring Lake Yarinacocha, whose shores are home to all kinds of species of animals and plants of the Amazon rainforest. If we're lucky, we may even be able to see the friendly local dolphins!
After a two-hour ride, we'll stop to visit a Shipibo-Konibo Indigenous community. This Amazonian group of Indigenous Peoples is distributed along the banks of the Ucayali River and still preserves their ancestral customs. During the visit, we'll be able to admire their traditional handicrafts, such as traditional garb and ceramics.
After leaving the Shipibo-Konibo community, we'll continue sailing across the waters of Lake Yarinacocha. In this part of the trip, we'll make two stops: one in the village of Caserío 11 de Agosto (also known as Caserío de Cesteros), where local women make objects with vegetable fibers like baskets, hats and fans, and another at the beach of San José.
Finally, we'll go on a hike through the jungle to see the area's plants and animals. After the hike, we'll return to Puerto Callao, where the bus will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Pucallpa. Arrival is scheduled for 1 pm.
