If you're in Providencia, take the opportunity to visit its neighbour: the island of Santa Catalina. The crystal clear beaches, Morgan's Head and the Lovers Bridge are waiting to tell you stories of exlporers and pirates. Ready for a day in paradise?
Santa Catalina Historical & Cultural Tour
At the appointed time we'll pick you up at your accommodation, and in a few minutes, we'll arrive at the Lovers Bridge. There we'll start walking to our destination: Santa Catalina Island.
This island, only one square kilometre in size, is considered an open-air museum by locals and visitors alike. Among its streets, we'll discover the typical architecture of the Caribbean, with wooden buildings and colourful roofs, a nod to the island's flora and fauna.
We'll explore the island through houses that are sheltered among the vegetation. We'll even enter some courtyards to discover tropical fruit trees and bushes with colorful flowers. Overlooking the sea, we'll talk about discoverers, pirates, and buccaneers who had a lot to do with Santa Catalina.
We'll interact with the locals to learn how to make traditional coconut oil, and we'll walk along the Santa Catalina trail to reach the popular Morgan's Head. If you get up close, you'll see that this huge rock is shaped like a human face—did you know it's named after the pirate Henry Morgan?
Finally, we'll say goodbye at the starting point between 2 to 3 hours after the beginning of the activity.
