Providence Ghost Tour
Providence Haunted History Tour
Welcome to the capital city of Rhode Island! We'll meet at the Rhode Island Holocaust Memorial and set off on a walking tour through Providence.
This colonial city began as a place of hope for settlers looking to escape religious prosecution. Quickly, it became the site of ghostly visitors and unending hauntings. Did you know famed horror authors Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker, and even H.P. Lovecraft once called this city home? Providence served as the perfect inspiration for many of their renowned pieces, we'll see why on this tour.
Our first stop will be at Brown College's University Hall. This historic building was originally used as an emergency hospital during the Revolutionary War. No surprise here—students and staff frequently report glimpsing lost spirits roaming the halls at night. Will we spot a few ourselves?
From here, we'll walk over to the Providence Athenaeum Library, a favorite spot of H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe. Fun fact: this was Poe's favorite meeting spot during his courtship of Sarah Helen Whitman. Though their love never culminated in marriage, residents claim Poe's anguished soul haunts the library to this day.
Next, we'll stroll over to the Shunned House, famous for being the inspiration for H.P. Lovecraft's horror novel. While Lovecraft wrote fiction, many claim the ghostly apparitions described in his tale are all real. We'll learn more in-depth details about this famously haunted 18th-century home alongside our knowledgeable guide, including unsolved mysteries, tragic murders, and even horrific creatures.
Following a spine-tingling 1-hour tour exploring the paranormal in Providence, we'll bring the tour to an end at the famous Fleur de Lys Studio.
