Immerse yourself in Cyrpus' Greco-Roman past with a visit to Paphos and the Kourion archaeological site, one of the most outstanding sights on the Mediterranean island.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Protaras and set off for the Koruion archaeological site, making a brief coffee stop near the town of Chirokitia along the way.
After journeying for 1 hour and 30 minutes through the south of Cyprus, we'll arrive at the famous archaeological site, one of the country's most significant Greco-Roman remains.
We'll begin our tour around this historical enclave at the ancient Kourion Theatre, enjoying the magnificent views of the Mediterranean from its impressive stands. We'll also admire the beautiful mosaics that decorate the House of Eustolios, an ancient 5th Century house belonging to a member of the wealthiest class of the time. You'll also have some time to visit the House of Dionysus if you so wish! This ancient residence is host to an outstanding collection of mosaics.
We'll continue along our route which runs parallel to the paradisiacal bay of Episkopi. We'll stop in the beautiful coastal city of Paphos in the port area. From there, you'll have two and a half hours of free time to grab a spot of lunch and explore the town!
After we've refueled, we'll continue our adventure and head toward Geroskipou, a town famed for its delicious pastries. After about 15 minutes, we'll go to Petra tou Romious - also known as 'Aphrodite's Rock.' For the next 45 minutes, you'll be free to have a swim and snap a few pictures!
Finally, we'll start the return to the hotels in Protaras and end the excursion after eight hours of travel.
