At 5 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Praia and take you to Santiago Island Airport. From there, you'll take a flight to São Vicente Island, where you'll arrive after just 1 hour.
When you land, we'll pick you up at the terminal and set out on a tour of São Vicente Island, which is the Cape Verde archipelago's second most populated island. We'll start our tour in São Vicente's capital, Mindelo, where we'll visit the main church, the famous municipal market and the birthplace of the singer Cesária Évora. In addition, we'll head to the Fortim do Rei so you can see the Belem Tower and learn about the link to its twin tower in Lisbon.
After our tour around Mindelo, we'll go to the Praia da Bote market. The fresh fish here is usually caught off the coast of Salamansa, which is our next stop. From there, we'll travel to Gatas Bay so you can see and take pictures of its spectacular sand dunes.
Next, we'll head to the Monte Verde Natural Park. This wonderful spot stands out for its peculiar rock formations, which are called 'volcanic tuffs'. After admiring the enchanting landscape, we'll return to Mindelo, where you'll have 30 minutes to eat lunch next to Laginha Beach.
We'll then take you to São Vicente Airport so you can catch your return flight in good time. Once you've landed back on Santiago Island, we'll pick you up from the terminal and drop you back at your hotel in Praia. Our estimated arrival time is 6 pm.
Flights between Praia and São Vicente
You'll need to reserve your own flight from RAI (Praia Airport on Santiago Island), which departs at 7 am and lands at VXE (São Vicente Airport) at 7:55 am. The airline operator Binter offers this route.
You'll also need to reserve the return flight departing from VXE at 4 pm and arriving at RAI at 4:55 pm. This route is also offered by Binter.
