Description
Let's explore Prague! At 9:30 am we'll meet in Wenceslas Square, in Prague's New Town. We'll begin by giving you an introduction to the city's history while admiring the beautiful historic buildings around us, such as the National Museum.
Next, we'll cross over to the Old Town so we can see the Charles University, the Theatre of Statement, Powder Tower and the Municipal House. We'll then visit the House of the Black Madonna and take a break in the Grand Orient Cafe so you can get a snack if you wish.
Once we've reconvened, we'll see the Basilica of St. James and wind our way through the Old Town's narrow streets on our way to the Jewish Quarter. Here, we'll discuss one of the Czech Republic's literary greats: Franz Kafka.
We'll then walk down the famous Pariska Street as we make our way to the city's main synagogues, such as the Spanish Synagogue and the Old-New Synagogue. In addition, we'll visit the Jewish graveyard and share some of the stories and legends relating to this community in Prague.
Our next stop will be Old Town Square, where we'll see the incredible Astronomical Clock. You'll be impressed by the medieval engineering displaying both the time and astronomical information, with several moving figures upon the chiming of the bells. We'll then see the Church of Our Lady before Tyn and the main buildings around it while discussing the Second World War.
Afterwards, we'll hop on one of Prague's trams to cross the Vltava River and get to Mala Strana. From Mala Strana, we'll get on the funicular to make our way up to the hill to see Petrin Tower and admire incredible views of the City of a Hundred Spires.
The expert local guide will explain some of this area's history while we explore the Strahov Monastery and St. Wenceslas' Vineyard. You'll then have 1 hour of free time to get some lunch at your leisure near the monastery. Our guide will also be able to recommend some of the best traditional Czech dishes, such as Gulash, as well as some famous Czech beers.
From here, we'll go to the world's biggest medieval castle and one of the city's top attractions. We'll also see St. Vitus Cathedral, Golden Lane and the Presidential Palace before finishing our tour in the Lesser Town on the iconic Charles Bridge at 4:30 pm.
