Guided Tour of Pozzuoli
Tour Details
We'll meet at the designated time, at Via Carlo Rosini, 21 to begin our guided tour of Pozzuol. Are you ready to discover one of the most beautiful cities in Campania? Let's go!
We'll begin the tour by walking towards Villa Avellino, a Centenary Park that preserves remnants of ancient Roman cisterns, that bore witness to the city's hydraulic and architectural importance during the imperial era.
Next, we'll head over to the San Guiseppe slope, descending towards the Macellum, an ancient Roman indoor market known by most as the Temple of Serapis, named this way when a statue of the Egyptian god was discovered during excavations. Did you know that this is one of the clearest examples of Bradyseism so characteristic of this area?
Afterwards, we'll reach the fishermen's dock and the Via Napoli seafront promenade, a place of great historical importance, as it was the first point of arrival of the Greeks to the colony of Pozzuoli.
Lastly, we'll go up towards the Rione Terra rock, where you'll have the chance to relive the neighbourhood's history, recounting the events related to the evacuation on March 2, 1970, when the area was cleared due to the risk posed by Bradyseism, right up to the area's recent renovation and rebirth.
Lastly, we'll return to our meeting point after a 2-hour walking tour, where we'll say our goodbyes.
