Uyuni Salt Flat Day Trip
Uyuni Salt Flat Day Trip
At the designated time, we'll depart from the old bus terminal on Avenida Universitaria and set off on our day trip to one of the most incredible places in Bolivia. The Uyuni Salt Flat awaits!
After arriving at the Uyuni bus station, we'll stop at the famous Uyuni Train Cemetery. Here, we'll find the remains of Bolivia's very first locomotives from the 19th century.
Next, we'll head to Colchani, which is the gateway to the Uyuni Salt Flat. We'll attend a demonstration of the extraction process of this chemical compound and see the unique salt eyes. These are orifices where the water underground reaches boiling point as a result of geothermal energy.
The salt extracted by the salt workers is arranged in mounds to facilitate drying and transport. We'll also see this process before moving on to the Playa Blanca Hotel, which consists entirely of salt blocks.
We'll visit the hotel and then, weather permitting, we'll go to Fish Island. This deserted islet sits on the southern side of the salt flat and has beautiful unspoilt nature.
After our tour of the salt flat, we'll stop for a delicious buffet lunch. You'll then have some free time to take photos and watch a magical sunset over the Uyuni Salt Flat.
Finally, we'll return to the bus station in Uyuni and start our return trip to Potosi. Arrival is scheduled for midnight.
