San Francisco Monastery Guided Tour

At your chosen time, we'll meet up on Calle Ayacucho and walk to the nearby Monastery of San Francisco.

This convent, built in 1548, will take us back to colonial times when the wealth from Potosí's silver mines permitted the construction of religious buildings as majestic as San Francisco.

The complex consists of a church crowned with tiled domes, a bell tower, several rooms that served as the monks' residences, and a crypt located under the main altar.

We'll visit the temple where the monks meet to pray and admire the lavish high altar before walking through the different rooms of the monastery. As we explore the rooms, we'll observe the paintings that belong to the Franciscan order.

Next, we'll head down to the catacombs, where the remains of numerous people have been laid to rest.

Our 1-hour tour will then come to an end as we say our goodbyes at the monastery's exit.
