Having met up at your chosen time on Calle Ayacucho, we'll stroll to the famous Plaza 10 de Noviembre just a few metres away.
When we get there, we'll find ourselves in front of one of the city's main religious buildings. This would be the Holy Basilica Cathedral of Potosí, which was built between 1808 and 1836 and exhibits both the colonial baroque and neoclassical architectural styles. We'll also explain the meaning behind the use of both "cathedral" and "basilica" for this building's name.
This imposing church in Potosí was the last of the great constructions that took place in the city. On our 1-hour guided tour, we'll learn about the importance of religious architecture in Bolivia, as well as the history of the building itself.
After admiring the beautiful façade of the cathedral and learning about its different stages, we'll enter its naves to marvel at the paintings, decorations and gold-leaf panelling inside. We'll also pay a visit to areas such as the mausoleum, the choir and the bell tower, which boasts a beautiful view of Potosí.
