If you're in Portorož, you can't miss out on the chance to visit the Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle. You'll be able to admire one of the most beautiful Karst caves in the world and a castle shrouded in mystery.
Postojna Cave & Predjama Castle Half Day Tour
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Portorož at 9 am and drive northeast past the border with Slovenia for 44 miles to reach our destination first: the Postojna Cave, the most famous and visited karst cave in Europe
We'll venture into the Postojna Cave and admire the incredible rock formations created over the years, such as stalactites and stalagmites. We'll also meet the fascinating animal that dwells in this cave called olms, also known as the 'dragon's offspring'.
We'll continue exploring the cave on a little train that will take us to see some of the highlights of this cave, such as the Murano glass chandeliers and the ballroom.
After an hour and a half, we'll move on to our next stop: Predjama Castle, a unique fortress perched on a cliff over 120 meters high. Predjama also happens to be the only cave castle in Europe still standing and the biggest castle carved in rock in the world.
Only a fifteen-minute ride away from the Postojna Cave, we'll visit the fortress and explore its different rooms while listening to the fascinating stories of this place, such as the legend of Erasmus of Predjama, the Slovenian Robin Hood.
After the end of this guided tour, we'll return to the minibus and head back to Portorož. We'll drop you off at your hotel around 3 pm.
