Cálem Cellars Guided Tour

We'll meet at the Cálem wine cellars, on the banks of the river Douro, at your selected time. Here we'll start a guided tour of the bodega to find out all about how the famous Porto wine is made. Guided by an expert wine-maker, we'll delve into the cellars and find out some of Cálem's most interesting stories, as well as what it is that makes these port wines so special.

We'll also visit the winery's interactive museum to find out more about its history. After visiting the winery, we'll finish the hour-long tour in the bodega's shop where you can buy souvenirs and gifts to truly remember your trip.

When booking, you can choose between 3 options:

Tasting of 2 wines: At the end of the visit, you'll enjoy a tasting of two wines in the cellars.

Tasting of 3 wines: In addition to visiting the winery, you'll taste three local Port wines.

Tasting of wines, chocolates and cheeses: We'll end the visit with a tasting of three superior quality wines, chocolates and cheeses.

Excelente actividad que recomiendo si visitas Oporto. Puntuales con la hora. El museo intercativo cool y luego la visita guiada en mi caso con Sofia, espectacular. Muy simpática, precisa y concisa. Hizo de la visita una experiencia muy amena. Finalizas con la cata de vinos, en mi caso 3, un white, un rose y un Tawny, espectaculares. Sobremesa estupenda con mi grupo. Yo lo recomiendo 100%. Excellent activity that I recommend if you visit Porto. Punctual with the time. The interactive museum was cool and then the guided tour in my case with Sofia, spectacular. Very friendly, precise and concise. She made the visit a very pleasant experience. You finish with the wine tasting, in my case 3, a white, a rose and a Tawny, spectacular. El guía en español MUY BUENO. Gracioso y muy documentado. La primera parte de la visita es al llamado Museo. Merece la pena dedicarle tiempo si está realmente interesado en el vino Oporto. The guide in Spanish was VERY GOOD. He was funny and very well informed. The first part of the visit is to the so-called Museum. It is worth spending time there if you are really interested in Port wine. With a model or reproduction of the Douro valley they explain very well the reasons that make this wine different. Estas es mi primera experiencia en una viñeta, aprendí mucha más acerca de la preparación del vino. El guía fue muy explícito y amable con un toque de humor muy agradable. This is my first experience in a vignette, I learned a lot more about wine preparation. The guide was very explicit and friendly with a nice touch of humor. Actividad de una hora de duración la visita , luego te puedes quedar más tiempo con la cata, te dejan hacerla sin prisas. Los primeros 15 minutos para visitar un pequeño museo q está muy bien. Luego la guía te explica el proceso de cómo se elabora el vino de oporto y sus variedades, mientras enseña la bodega. La guía excelente. The visit is an hour long activity, then you can stay longer with the tasting, they let you do it without rushing. The first 15 minutes are to visit a small museum which is very nice. Then the guide explains the process of how port wine is made and its varieties, while showing the winery. The guide is excellent. Lo pasamos bien pero la verdad es que al guía no se le entendía muy. Considero que si la visita fuera de menos personas, sería más fácil de seguir. Había momentos en los que literalmente no se podía ver al guía y mucho menos escuchar sus explicaciones. Además, la cata en sí...bastante caótica. No todos los de grupo habíamos contratado la misma -al parecer- así que las explicaciones no sirvieron de gran cosa. Eso sí, los vinos buenísimos! Translate this opinion into English.

We had a good time, but the truth is that the guide was not very clear. I think that if the tour had fewer people, it would have been easier to follow. There were times when you literally couldn't see the guide, much less hear his explanations. Also, the tasting itself... quite chaotic.
