Porto Alegre Guided Tour
At 9:30 am, we'll meet at Praça XV de Novembro to start a walking tour through the historic center of Porto Alegre. During our guided tour, we'll delve into the history of the capital of Rio Grande do Sul and visit some of its most emblematic places.
Before we set off into the city, we'll pause to look at the kiosk in the square, one of the oldest buildings in Porto Alegre. The building, protected as Historical Heritage, was built in 1885. We'll talk about the different functions and renovations it has had over the years.
Afterward, we'll go to the public market where we'll immerse ourselves in the day-to-day life of Porto Alegre. In the building housing the market, whose origins date back to the 19th century, we'll see many traditional stalls and a wide variety of Brazilian products.
We'll continue our guided tour of Porto Alegre admiring the exterior of the Municipal Palace, one of the city's most important monuments. Nearby is the Esquina Democrática (Democratic Corner), a historical landmark where we'll delve into the city's dark side and its mysterious murders.
Finally, the tour will end at 11:30 am in Praça Alfândega.
