Description
More than 30 years ago, a volcano violently erupted in the southeast of Washington State, destroying everything in its path. Mount Saint Helens is an exceptional geological site, only 80 kilometres (50 miles) from Portland. Want to find out more? Let's go!
At the time indicated, we'll meet at 523 NE 19th Avenue, and we'll head to Mount Saint Helens. During our journey, we'll explain the huge geological curiosities that characterise this area, such as the 18th May 1980 eruption.
Upon arrival at our destination, we'll hike along one of the most outstanding routes in Mount Saint Helens, a walk that will take us past waterfalls, lava caves, and beautiful forests. Did you know that the largest lava cave in North America can be found here?
Additionally, if we have time, we'll visit the closest viewpoint to the volcano crater, the perfect spot to learn all about this stratovolcano's activity. We'll also make a stop and have a picnic-style lunch next to Spirit Lake. There's no better place to enjoy your lunch!
Afterwards, we'll continue exploring the areas surrounding Mount Saint Helens. Finally, we'll head back to Portland, but not before stopping at a bar where you can have a drink or snack if you want.
After 12 hours, the day trip will end at the initial meeting point.
