Lopinot Day Trip
Description
After picking you up from your hotel, we'll leave Port of Spain behind and make our way to Lopinot, located in the north of Trinidad and Tobago. This place has its own personality resulting from the mixture of the French influence of its first inhabitants, and the Caribbean influence of the Trinidadian culture.
Our first stop will be the Count of Lopinot's prison, where we'll learn about the history of this estate and visit its cocoa plantations. Did you know that they perform a special dance for cocoa? We'll learn about its significance and dance to the rhythm of parang music, with Venezuelan and African notes.
Next, we'll set off for the chocolate factory, where they make one of the purest cocoa chocolates on the island. We'll see the production process and learn about the peculiar shapes they make with the product in an artisanal way. Of course, we'll also enjoy a delicious chocolate tasting!
Then, we'll go to Sr. Cyril Cooper's farm, another vast cocoa and coffee plantation where the longest-living tree of Lopinot is located. We'll discover how valuable this over 100-year-old tree is for the locals.
Lastly, we'll visit the heart-shaped Martin Gomez cave. We'll enter this cave to see the bats, birds and insects that inhabit it. Although many claim that animals are not the only inhabitants of this cave... We'll learn about the legends of apparitions in this place!
Finally, we'll return to your hotel in Port of Spain, where we'll arrive after a total of 6 hours.
