Porec Free Tour
Porec Free Tour
Let's kick off this free tour of Porec, at the indicated time, as we set off from Trg Slobode Square, just in front of the Church of Our Lady of the Angels.
After marveling at this temple, one of the most beautiful in the Istrian peninsula, we'll take a walk along Ulica Decumanus, the main street of the old town of Porec. From there, we'll visit the Peterokutna Kula, a pentagonal defensive tower dating back to the 15th century.
Next up, we'll pause in front of the Romanesque House, an ancient medieval building that stands out for its masonry. Nearby is the Euphrasian Basilica, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The intricate mosaics and the importance of this temple in early Christian architecture make it no surprise why it was named so.
We'll continue our tour of Porec visiting the remains of the ancient Roman temple of Neptune, built when the city was called Parentium. Taking advantage of this pause, we'll delve into the imperial past of this area of the Adriatic Sea, which was essential due to its privileged strategic location.
Finally, after a 1.5-hour tour, we'll bring our free tour to an end at Trg Marafor, the oldest square in Porec.
