Whale Watching + Vila Franca Islet Excursion
Whale Watching + Vila Franca Islet Excursion
We'll meet at the designated time at the Ponta Delgada seaport, where we'll board a boat that will take us out to sea. Get your cameras ready, because we'll spend three hours watching the Atlantic whales and dolphins.
Ponta Delgada is a town with many years of experience in protecting and respecting marine wildlife. During the boat trip, the guide will explain the importance of this work, as well as interesting facts about the different species that we'll be able to see during the activity. You'll see the agile jumps of the friendly dolphins and the impressive splashes of the whales and orcas.
Afterwards, we'll return to the port of Ponta Delgada for a transfer to Vila Franca do Campo, where we'll have lunch at a local restaurant. The menu includes a starter, a fish starter, a dessert and coffee or tea.
After lunch, we'll continue our boat trip exploring this islet of the Azores, inside which there is a nature reserve and a volcanic crater. This island is known as the Princess Ring, you'll soon find out why...
We'll also have the opportunity to observe the seabirds that nest on its shores, which has led to the islet of Vila Franca being included in the list of Important Bird Areas of the environmental organisation BirdLife International.
Finally, we'll return to the port of Ponta Delgada, where the excursion will come to an end after a total of 7.5 hours.
