Ponta Delgada Sightseeing Tour
Ponta Delgada Sightseeing Tour
At the agreed time, we'll meet at João Bosco Mota Amaral Avenue in Ponta Delgada and, from there, we'll embark on a sightseeing tour of the capital of Sao Miguel Island on an open-top minibus.
We'll first head towards the famous Portas da Cidade, one of the most iconic landmarks in Ponta Delgada. After learning all about these famous arches, we'll move on to the neighborhood of Sao Roque to admire the beautiful facade of the namesake church and make a brief stop at the volcanic beach of Milicias to take some pics.
Our next stop will be the Fort of Sao Caetano do Populo, which just so happens to be connected to the 18th century War of the Spanish Succession. How, you might ask? We'll reveal why and after we'll head to the old town of this city to admire the incredibly detailed church of Sao Sebastiao.
Then, we'll continue this tour and explore the port area of Ponta Delgada, where we'll stop to admire two important monuments of the city: the fort of Sao Bras and the church of Senhor Santo Cristo. Did you know that this temple is one of the most visited by worshippers on the Azores?
The last stop will be the Padre Sena Freitas garden, where we'll tell you about the person this park was named after. And lastly, after a 45-55 minutes tour, we'll end this sightseeing tour and return to the meeting point.
