Kayaking in Lagoa das Furnas + Terra Nostra Park
At 9 am, we'll meet at Avenida João Bosco Mota Amaral, in Ponta Delgada, and head by minibus to Lagoa das Furnas, a lagoon located in the ancient crater of a volcano. How cool is that?
We'll hop into the kayaks and begin our tour of Lagoa das Furnas. From boiling water calderas, fumaroles, to Macaronesian vegetation surrounding Lagoa das Furnas will remind us that we are in a volcanic environment.
After two hours of kayaking, we'll head to a nearby restaurant to enjoy a well-deserved lunch that includes the traditional cocido made with the very heat radiating from within the soil. After refueling, it'll be time to visit Terra Nostra Park, one of the most incredible botanical gardens in the world and a must-see spot on the Azores.
Terra Nostra is home to plants from exotic regions all over the world. You'll enjoy a guided tour of the park to learn about its main highlights and discover the biodiversity it houses. What's more, you can take a relaxing bath in Terra Nostra's thermal pool - the best finishing touch for this tour!
Lastly, we'll head back to Ponta Delgada, ending the tour at 4.30 pm.
