At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the entrance ramps to the Templar Castle of Ponferrada, located next to the Church of San Andrés.
We'll then start exploring the castle and discovering its fascinating history. Among the most important owners were the knights of the Order of the Knights Templar. We'll discuss the beginnings of this religious and military organisation and its links with the El Bierzo area.
As we walk through the castle, we'll climb to the top of its defensive towers to admire the views of Ponferrada and the surrounding mountains. After taking in the views, we'll continue visiting other parts of the castle and marvelling at its immense size.
Having spent an hour and a half walking around this incredible monument, we'll finish our guided tour of Ponferrada Castle at the foot of Moclín Tower. From there, you'll be able to continue exploring the parts of the fortress you like the most at your leisure.
