Pompeii Wine Tour
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Piazza Esedra to begin this exciting wine experience in which we'll learn all about the world of wine in ancient Rome.
We'll begin the tour by driving through the wonderful picturesque vineyards around Pompeii, where we'll discover the many types of grapes and winemaking processes of the Campania region.
The excursion continues with a guided tour of a winery, where we'll learn about Roman wine-making techniques, using amphorae as they were used in ancient Pompeii. You'll witness the passion and knowledge that the local winegrowers put into every step of the process.
We'll see a superbly preserved wine storage and refining chamber. This space is furnished with barrels and amphorae, providing a fascinating insight into how wine was once stored and refined in this area.
Next, we'll head to the winery's dining room, where we'll have a tasting of red, white and sparkling wines. Afterwards, we'll enjoy lunch or dinner, depending on your selected time. This meal will be accompanied by some exceptional local wines, carefully paired with delicious dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.
After lunch, we'll return to Pompeii station, where we'll leave you after 2.5 hours.
