Keur Moussa Monastery Trip
Keur Moussa Monastery Trip
We will depart early in the morning form your hotel in Saly and then head north into Senegal's beautiful coastal region of Thiès.
We will arrive at the Keur Moussa monastery. Here, every Sunday, the Benedictine monks celebrate mass, accompanied by gorgeous music played on traditional West African instruments such as the kora, balafon, and djembe.
A unique, unforgettable experience awaits you inside. You will feel the passion of the monks as they recite their wonderful Gregorian chants. The ceremony lasts for around an hour and incorporates elements from the county's wonderful mix of different cultures which developed through history due to its strategic coastal location.
After the mass has finished, we will head to the shop where you will find artisan products, handcrafted by the monks themselves. If you want, you can buy one to take home as a souvenir of your experience.
Finally, we will return to Saly on the bus, arriving at around 12 am.
