Zeta Plain Wine Tour
Zeta Plain Wine Tour
Having been picked up from your hotel at 10 am, you'll leave Podgorica behind and begin your tour of the Zeta Plain. Did you know that this magnificent lowland area stretches all the way from the Montenegrin capital in the north to Lake Skadar in the south?
After a 20 minute drive through the plains, you'll reach the Lake Skadar National Park. This incredibly biodiverse nature reserve is home to 281 species of bird and 50 types of mammal, as well as the lake which gives it its name. From the Pavlova Strana viewpoint, you'll have unparalleled views over the spectacular fjord-like scenery!
This region of Montenegro is famous for something else too: the country's best wine is produced in the Zeta Plain! See for yourself on the next stop, visiting the Sofranac Winery to discover how brandy and other liqueurs have been made in the area throughout the generations. And of course, you'll have the opportunity to indulge in a tasting of 6 types of wines, 9 types of liquor and 6 types of brandy. To accompany the tasting, you'll have a typical Montenegrin lunch called meza - let's find out what it's all about!
At the end of your winery visit, you'll head to nearby Barutana, where you'll see the Monument to the Fallen Soldiers of the First and Second World Wars. Arriving back in Podgorica, you'll have half an hour to explore the town's historic streets and squares: don't miss strolling down Bulevar Svetog Petra Cetinjskog to discover the city's Communist past.
At 2 pm, you'll be dropped back off your hotel in Podgorica.
