Plovdiv Guided Tour
Tour Details
After meeting at the appointed time in front of the Ramada Hotel, we'll start touring the old town of Plovdiv, where we'll discover the secrets and history of the city. Let's go!
First up, we'll stop at the ruins of the Roman Stadium of Philippopolis and the Roman Theater. There, while admiring the structures and remains dating back to the 1st and 2nd centuries, we'll talk about the periods of Domitian and Hadrian.
We will continue our visit by heading towards Saborna Street, where we'll find the church of St. Constantine and St. Helena. After discovering this temple, we'll pass by Krastev Square or Lapidarium in search of the Hindliyan and Balabanov houses, where we'll stop to look at their facades while discovering the historical data of their original wealthy owners.
Next stop? The Armenian Catholic Church and the statue of the Great Tattletale Can you guess the reason for its name? Before you know it, we'll reach the Ethnographic Museum and walk uphill to the top, where the Nebet Tepe is located to learn about the oldest history of Plovdiv.
Then we'll reach the medieval Hisar Kapia Gate, built on the foundations of an ancient Roman gate. After discovering its history, we'll move on to the Muslim temple of Puldin and the houses of Lamartine and Klianti, two of the most representative examples of the Bulgarian Renaissance.
Finally, we'll head towards the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary of Plovdiv and the Djumaya Mosque, to learn more about the religious traditions of the city.
Lastly, we'll say goodbye at this final stop after a 2-hour guided tour.
