Sechura Day Trip + Sandboarding
Description
After picking you up at your hotel in Piura at 9 am, we'll head southwest until we reach the city of Sechura. The minibus ride will take us about an hour and a half.
We'll visit the city and admire its most famous places, such as the Plaza de Armas or the San Martín de Tours church, the main temple of this provincial capital. We'll talk about its origins, dating back to 1770, while we look at its high towers and admire its baroque details.
Next stop: the mangroves of San Pedro de Vice. There, as well as enjoying the scenery, we'll be able to see migratory birds from far away places like Canada. We'll get to know this estuary of the province of Sechura in depth and we'll teach you how to identify the different animal species we see.
Afterwards, we'll visit Chulliyachi beach and spend an hour of free time to have lunch and see the charms of this golden sandy bay. Here, we'll be able to see the ruins of a ghost town, from its church to its old mud houses once inhabited by Sechuran fishermen. The weakness of the materials and the action of the sea lead to the the total abandonment of this small fishing village.
Finally, we'll go to Médano Blanco, one of the most famous areas of the Sechura desert. Here, we'll give you a sandboard to enjoy sliding down the dunes of this natural landscape - it'll be lots of fun!
The excursion will end at 5:30 pm with drop-off at your hotel.
