Pistoia Private Walking Tour
We'll start our private tour of Pistoia by meeting at the time of your choice in Piazza del Duomo.
The square is also home to two other iconic monuments of beautiful workmanship: the Palazzo del Comune and the Palazzo del Podestà. We'll visit the courtyards of both before moving on to the Cathedral of San Zeno. After a brief introduction, we'll go inside this beautiful temple to admire the details of its typical Tuscan Romanesque architecture.
Inside the cathedral, we'll visit the crypt and check out two magnificent works of religious art: the Lorenzo di Credi Sacra Conversazione painting and the polychrome crucifix by Coppo di Marcovaldo. As we leave, we'll see the San Giovanni in Corte Baptistery across the way, which stands out for its green and white marble façade.
After learning about the history behind them, we'll continue our tour of Pistoia in Piazza della Sala, a picturesque esplanade that houses a popular market.
Continuing our stroll through the narrow streets of Pistoia, we'll reach the Church of Sant'Andrea, one of the great monuments of Tuscan Romanesque architecture. Here, we'll have the chance to see a true masterpiece: the pulpit sculpted by medieval artist Giovanni Pisano.
The route will continue on Via Abbi Pazienza, and from there we'll walk along the Ospedale del Ceppo building and the Church of San Giovanni Fuorcivitas.
Finally, after two hours of exploring, we'll conclude our guided tour of Pistoia at the Corsini confectionery to taste a typical treat called confetto.
