Cochiguaz Valley Hiking Tour
Cochiguaz Valley Hiking Tour
We'll pick you up at the scheduled time on O'Higgins street in Pisco Elqui, and from there we'll set off on towards the Cochiguaz river valley.
Once we get to the trailhead, we'll begin our 7-kilometer (4.4-mile) hike of medium difficulty. We'll reach 1800 meters (5,900 feet) above sea level with a total change in altitude of 200 meters (650 feet). Do you accept the challenge? We'll cross a spectacular nature sanctuary that will make the effort well worth it.
The hike will take us through the Cochiguaz Valley, which in Mapuche Mapudungun language means "House of Water". We'll get amazing views of the dramatic Andean landscapes throughout the walk. If you wish, you can do this stretch to the Cochiguaz River by bike, and take a dip when you get there! Halfway through, we'll take a break to have a picnic with sandwiches, fresh fruit, and a granola bar.
Then, the hike will take us to the breathtaking Las Tolas ravine, where we'll admire the unique contrast between the semi-arid forests, the rocky terrains, and the green blanket of lush vegetation.
Finally, we'll walk back to the trailhead and return to the meeting point in Pisco Elqui, where we'll arrive 5 hours after departure.
