Take a guided tour of Pisciotta and discover the medieval past of this town perched on the hills of the Cilento National Park!
Pisciotta Guided Tour
At the scheduled time, we'll meet on Via Borgo to begin a guided tour of Pisciotta. Ready to explore a medieval village?
From Piazza Pinto, we'll walk into the historic center of this Salerno town, until we reach the Palazzo Marchesale, birthplace of the famous bishop Luigi Pappacoda. Did you know that this important prelate was the main promoter of the Leccese Baroque style in the second half of the 17th century?
Next, we'll visit two noble chapels and Pisciotta's Chiesa Madre. This temple, dating back to the 16th century, preserves important relics and frescoes of 18th century Naples... A real treasure chest of art! Our guide will also tell us all about the Cilento uprisings of 1840, which involved the town of Pisciotta. What events influenced the fate of the town? Where does truth end and legend begin? We'll discover all this and more on the tour!
In the last stretch of the tour, we'll stop at a local craft workshop, where the owner will explain what her work consists of, and we'll even be able to participate in a small tasting of local products!
Finally, we'll have some free time for shopping, and then this interesting hour-and-a-half-hour walking tour will come to an end.
