Certosa di Padula Tour
Certosa di Padula Tour
After meeting at the point you selected, we'll set off to Padula, home to the Certosa di San Lorenzo, a magnificent monastery declared a World Heritage Site in 1998. Ready to explore it with an expert guide?
Once we reach the religious complex, popularly known as the Padula Charterhouse, we'll first take a look at its incredible Baroque façade. This is the predominant style throughout the building, even though the construction work on the monastery began in the 14th century.
Next, we'll enter the monastic complex to visit its different spaces - there are as many as 350 rooms here! But that's not the only extraordinary figure that characterizes this monastery, famous above all for its Great Cloister dating back to the late 18th century which covers 15,000 square meters.
During the guided tour of the Carthusian Monastery of Padula, we'll get to know not only the chapels and the church, where we'll admire beautiful 16th and 18th-century frescoes, but also the rooms dedicated to work, such as the laundries, the cellars and the kitchen. Immersed in this atmosphere from another time, it won't be difficult to imagine how the life of the Carthusian monks was spent!
Finally, we'll return to Pisciotta, where we'll accompany you back to your hotel or to the meeting point, after four hours of excursion.
