Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo to start this private tour of Pisa. Are you ready to discover this historic city's most emblematic places?
First, we'll visit the Piazza dei Miracoli, where we'll see the Baptistery of St. John, one of the city's symbols and the largest baptistery in Italy! We'll admire its Gothic dome before heading to the Cathedral of Pisa.
Our next stop will be the famous Leaning Tower. After learning the history and secrets surrounding this iconic monument, we'll continue the tour crossing Via Santa Maria and passing by the Romanesque church of San Sisto.
We'll continue strolling through the narrow streets of the historic center until we reach the Piazza dei Cavalieri, where we'll tell you about the influence exerted in Pisa by the Medici family. And, of course, we have to walk along Borgo Stretto street, one of the most commercial streets in the city.
Then, we'll pass through the square where the old market used to be before reaching the Lungarni, the streets located on the banks of the Arno River. From here, we'll admire the view of the Church of the Spina and the Citadella Vecchia.
As we tour, we'll tell you about some of the most important figures in Pisa's history, such as San Ranieri, the patron saint of the city, Galileo Galilei, and Giuseppe Garibaldi. We'll walk through the square dedicated to this military leader, Piazza Garibaldi, and then cross the Ponte di Mezzo.
Finally, we'll say our goodbyes in Piazza XX Settembre after 2 hours of exploring Pisa.
