Day trip to Rupit and Besalú
Description
The tour meets first thing in the morning, to begin an hour and a half journey to Rupit, one of Catalonia's most beautiful towns.
Having arrived, you'll have free time to explore the area at your own pace. You can wander the cobbled streets, and see the typical stone houses of the medieval period.
Once you've got to know Rupit, we'll continue our day trip, climbing more than 1,000 metres to reach the Santuario de la Mare de Déu del Far, where we'll see, as well as the chapel and its interior, some of the most spectacular views of Gerona and the surrounding countryside.
Another of the places we'll visit is Besalú, some 50 minutes away from the sanctuary. The town is known for its beautifully preserved medieval architecture, largely thanks to the impressive 10th-century fortress which still dominates the municipality.
The medieval bridge, the Jewish Mikveh, the church of San Pedro de Besalú or the old Pilgrim's hospital are some of the unmissable sights in the town. And you'll enjoy a complete traditional lunch to fuel up before heading back to the starting points.
